Testimonals

My son had weekly session with Dr. O'Shea over the course of a year and a half at NYU where she helped him overcome anxiety, learn to self-regulate, control his OCD thoughts, regulate his overall behavior, and follow direction and positively participate in a regular classroom. My son is a prime example of the success that she achieved through very careful and compassionate counseling. Her unparalleled ability to relate and engage him was truly remarkable. The key to our son's success with therapy was Dr. O'Shea's approach to teaching him coping skills, creating novel games and elaborate explanation of feelings, behaviors, and responses. In addition to helping our son, she taught my husband and I how to deal with various behaviors and circumstances.  Also, Dr. O'Shea provided advice and recommendations to his school teachers on how to deal with various behaviors.  After every session, we left feeling optimistic and equipped with tools on how to deal with tantrums, meltdowns, anxiety, OCD questions and other difficult behavior. Our son is currently in a regular classroom and is on target to meeting his grade expectations. His success is wholly attributable to the weekly therapy sessions with Dr. O'Shea. Our whole family is extremely grateful for the positive effect she had on our son.
Gratefully,

Seeing Dr. Debra O’Shea completely helped me move through a difficult part of my life. After feeling 'stuck' in a relationship, I was completely unable to move in any direction for years.  I decided to start seeing Debra, and I was able to work through to a decision, feel confident in that decision, and end my relationship knowing it was the right direction to take.  Debra was instrumental in me moving forward with my life. She is thoughtful, insightful, open and caring. She truly listens, is utterly non-judgmental, and frames your situation in a way that makes you able to think through things clearly and make progress. I've recommended her to all of my friends, who in turn love her as much as I do!  My life wouldn't be the same if I hadn't started seeing Dr. Debra O’Shea.

As a speech language pathologist, working with a neuropsychologist is essential in providing comprehensive care.  I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Dr. Debra O’Shea and each time left me more impressed with her adaptability and expansive clinical expertise.  While working together within a Physical Medical and Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit, Dr. O’Shea was a consistent resource not only for patients, but for other staff as well.  Always enduring and thorough she exudes a calming presence that can diffuse even the most intense of situations. She leads by example and provides a solid resource for all members of the interdisciplinary team.  I have seen, first hand, her ability to support and empower her patients and/or their caregivers to navigate their situation while instilling confidence in their treatment plan.   As a professional, it is so inspiring to find someone who cares for their patients as much as Debra.  Personally and professionally Debra has continued to prove as a valuable resource given her extensive experience and drive to never stop learning.  It has been my privilege to remain in contact with Debra even though we no longer work together on a daily basis.  I confidently refer individuals to Dr. O’Shea as she is an advocate for patients and their families and they will receive the highest level of care.

Dr. Debra O’Shea and I met in April 2014, during our tenure at NYU Langone Medical Center. Since that time, I continue to admire her as a friend as well as a professional colleague. She was a respected senior member of the psychology department and throughout the hospital. She is someone who easily and effortlessly relates to others with compassion and understanding. Dr. O’Shea is warm and caring in her interpersonal style and her excellent clinical judgment enables her to quickly assess the clinical needs of everyone she works with.  She is skilled at understanding the unique needs when working with children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families.

I have worked with many professionals, and in my experience, Dr. O’Shea’s professional expertise and standard of conduct continuously stand out as superior. I regularly consult with her and value her clinical skills and judgment. I refer patients to her without hesitation, and their feedback is always exemplary.

It has been a privilege to have her as a colleague and an honor to call her a friend.

Dr. Debra O'Shea provided individual and family therapy during a time of crisis for our daughter. It is no exaggeration to say that our family was on the brink of falling apart. We were in unchartered territory and when our adolescent began having severe anxiety and depression. Dr. O'Shea's empathetic, caring and knowledgeable approach saw us through a very difficult time. She also advised us on navigating the school system during this very challenging time and provided useful recommendations to keep her integrated in school. We attribute the restoration of my daughter's health to Dr. O'Shea.
